Our hosting provider identified a large CPU spike on the load balancer server for the cluster at the time of the outage, which we believe was the cause. We have consequently added additional CPU capacity to the load balancer to make it more robust against similar spikes.
Ongoing investigations are underway to identify what triggered the CPU spike in the first place, additional information will be posted once our hosting provider uncovers likely causes.
Between 6:20am and 6:25am UTC, we observed a brief loss of traffic into our UK-LONDON-1 cluster, which was resolved by our automatic recovery systems.
